About
As a child, I watched my grandmother skillfully create beautiful, elaborate baskets and paper dolls. The idea that a plain piece of paper can be transformed into a piece of beauty got me hooked. Over time, I started to create soaring cranes and delicate frogs from the pages of my own notebooks.
Born and raised in Korea and then getting my university-level education in the US, I incorporate elements of both eastern and western cultures into my work. The innocence and wonder from my childhood still largely inspire me today. In addition, I conjure my own magic in clay by combining wheel-throwing, hand-building, sculpting, carving techniques, and raku firing to create my portfolio of work.
